Born on 23rd November 1981 in Chennai, Vishnu Manchu received a lot of acclaim not only on the silver screen but also otherwise. Being a popular face of Telugu cinema and television, Vishnu is an actor, producer, and director. Keeping the film world aside, he is also a well-known educationalist and philanthropist.
Child of veteran actor Mohan Babu, Vishnu Vardhan Manchu spent his childhood with his brother Manchu Manoj and sister Manchu Lakshmi. He received a degree in engineering from Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College specializing in computer science. Marrying Viranica Reddy in 2009 was a personal milestone. Viranica is the daughter of Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, and the couple is now happily blessed with two twin girls and a baby boy, Avram Bhakta Manchu.
Acting in his genes
Nobody can deny Mohan Babu’s unbeatable diction and on screen performance. Being his son, Vishnu picked that up rather fast. He started as a child artist in 1985 and worked in his father’s film Ragile Gundelu but his career was pushed up in the year 2003 when he was awarded with the Filmfare Best Male Debut for his film ‘Vishnu’ directed by Shaji Kailash. After a great success, he played the lead role, back to back in the films every year. Suryam, Political Rowdy, Asthram and Game are the movies he starred in 2004, 2005, and 2006 respectively. He made a cameo appearance as a dancer in movie Political Rowdy, which is a purely romantic action drama.
One of the best things about his films is that the plot will essentially convey a good message. Vishnu played the hero in Dhee, Krishnarjuna, Saleem, Vastadu Naa Raju, Denikaia Ready, Doosukeltha, Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda, Rowdy, Anukshnam, Erra Bus, Dynamite, Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam, Lucky Unnodu, Gayatri, Achari America Yatra, Voter, and Kannappa.
His movie Dhee was a breakthrough in 2007, paving way for him in Tollywood. The year also proved to be a good one for him. His film Dhenikaina Ready earned a gross of 200 million at box office while movie Doosukeltha grossed more than 12 crores. He has shown his versatility by playing different roles in different movies. Also, he appeared with his father and performed impressively. In fact, he appeared more than 20 movies by the year 2018.
Vishnu also chanced his luck as director and producer. He directed 100th episode of series Happy Days (a television series of Zee Telugu) and amazingly the episode got the highest TRP with its 700 episodes of series. He also directed Lakshmi Talk Show or Premathoo Mee Lakshmi after heading to the 24 Frames Factory Production House. His comedy movie, Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda in 2014, was of this production house. Amid this, he also headed towards other elements of cinema like post-production graphics, etc. Atanokkade from the ThinkSmart post-production house crowned for the best video effect awards.
While shooting Achari America Yatra in 2018, Vishnu met with an accident experiencing near-fatal injury. Before that, he had already planned his upcoming movie in 2019 with the title Kannappa scripted by him.
Vishnu had contributed greatly to education, support to army green and Vishnu Manchu Art foundation. Currently, he is the owner of SreeVidyanikethan Education Trust which was founded by his father. The trust operates various educational institutes including school, degree-college, engineering college, college of pharmacy, college of nursing, college of management, and college for post-graduation.
He also started an art education center known as Vishnu Manchu Art foundation (VMAF). This institute is aimed at providing financial as well as educational help to aspiring artists and evolve them by enhancing creativity. The institute organizes shows like Make Art, Show Art, and Beyond art, series of art programmes every year in order to achieve institutional objectives. It also trains aspirants by furnishing free lecture seminars and raise the issues pertaining to contemporary art and artists. Being a venue of art lovers, VMAF not only showcases its traditional works but also provides a platform to new and creative ideas.
Vishnu started a social unit, Army Green, with the mission to promote environmental awareness.
