With an objective of making Amaravati Capital Smart, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is now aiming at installing different integrated smart poles at five different locations. The vision is not only to make the Amaravati a smart city but also make it multi-purpose and more secure.
The integrated smart poles will have multiple facilities like LED light fixture, surveillance camera, digital bill board, Wi-Fi router, EV charger, environmental sensors, mobile charging ports, SOS switches, public address system, emergency call box, mobile signal box, solar panels, among others.
An official from the Amaravati Smart and Sustainable City Corporation Ltd (ASSCL) said that integrated smart poles are the inseparable elements of the 21st century to keep the city safe, happy, and liveable. To understand the needs and various components of smart pole technology, erection of the said pilot project of integrated poles will help a great deal. Through this, teams can explore the available technologies, he further added.
As per the suggestions of vendors, ASSCL will add more smart facilities to the city and incorporate them, the spokesperson stated. For the installation of integrated smart poles, the authority has recognized five locations at IGC (Interim Government Officials) premises in Velagapudi. The entire project cost will be charged to SCM (Smart City Mission) funds. Hereby, it is important to note that Amaravati has already been listed as a smart city in the third round of SCM projections by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
It is said that the project execution will take place after getting EOIs from vendors and finalizing technicalities and modalities of the execution process. Tenders will be brought for implementation of the project in few months of completion of execution process.
After analyzing the results of the pilot project, more integrated smart poles will be established along major roads of Amaravati.
