Kia Motors has planned to launch its first compact SUV car in the mid of 2019 and the remaining two variants by the year end. The auto giant has spent around $1.1 billion investing into the Indian market. The Kia Motors manufacturing plant is being set up in the Yerramanchi village at Penugonda Mandal of Anantapur district. As to what seems to be the obvious, the construction is going on at record speed, nearing completion ahead of stipulated time.
The works are at full pace and the masonry is near to finish. The company has also put up its logo at the manufacturing site which was largely shared on the social media. Remaining work related to finishing, installation and machinery will be done in the months to come.
70 PC work completed
A senior official at Kia Motors told a news agency on anonymity that the work at the site is completed by 65-70%. The rest of the work related mostly to installation, finishing, setting up machinery will be done within next few months. Manufacturing of vehicles will start by the start of the year 2019. However, he chose not to speak on the specifics going on in the manufacturing site.
Earlier this year in February, the giant motor company had apprised the media that the work is under progress and there will be various units to be made for the facilitation. They stated that there will be an engine shop, paint shop, body assembly shop, utility center, vehicle assembly and seat assembly shop and power train shop at the site.
$2 billion invested
Kia Motors will be investing $2 billion by the end of 2021 which will create around 10, 000 jobs in the country. The biggest beneficiary of this would be Andhra Pradesh, with jobs and utilization of labor and resources.
