Due to some commercial reasons, Air Tanzania had stopped its operations in India in the mid-1990s. Both Air India and Air Tanzania had direct flight operations between both the countries. Recently, top official from the Tanzania Tourist Board said that the air carrier is likely to resume its services in India from November onwards.
Jilesh Babla of Zanzibar Tourism Promotion Centre (Mumbai) stated that Air Tanzania recently has recently received permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to operate in India. Also, Tanzanian Tourism is promoted by Zanzibar tourism promotional group. For this new airline, Bird group, which is based in New Delhi, has been appointed as sales manager.
Good support from Indians
Devota Mdachi, Managing Director of Tanzania Tourist Board informed that the decision of service resumption is receiving tremendous support and interest from Indians. With the expectation of increasing number of tourists from India, he further added that from November, a new Airline ‘Air Tanzania’ will be operating from Mumbai. New arrival of African carrier would operate a Boeing 787 aircraft from Dar es Salaam to Mumbai with four direct flights every week.
“The best Safari country in Africa in 2014 and 2015”, was the rewarded name for the Tanzania’s Airline group. This title put Tanzania on the world map, which then became one of the most in demand and sought after tourist destinations in Arica.
Cultural richness showcased
The promotional board showcased cultural richness of Tanzania along with insights of major tourist destinations of the place. Here, Babla also said that both Tanzania and Zanzibar have equal potential and opportunities for tourists. Both the Islands offer great potentials to Indian as well as Tanzanian tourists as both the countries flaunt lot of cultural places, historical monuments, and rich heritage along with great hospitality that warms the visitors.
