After its roaring success of the compact SUV Seltos, Kia Motors India is all set to launch its second product in the Indian market with the KIA CARNIVAL, at the Auto Expo scheduled to begin on February 5, 2020. Designed specifically to suit the Indian market it is expected to be a rival to the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Superior design and smart features make the Kia Carnival a confluence of maximum luxury with a justified economy.

Boasting of better design, equipment level and refinement, the Kia Carnival comes with an impressive exterior size (measuring 5115mm in length, 1985mm in width, 1740mm in height and a 3060mm wheelbase), longer than the best-selling Toyota Innova Crysta. With the signature Kia front fascia, featuring large headlamps and tiger-nose grille and plain and simple side profile, there will be chrome enhancement around the window lines, ORVMs and door handle to offer premium touch. At the back, the MPV looks bulky with massive windows and stylish tail-lights.

LED headlamps and fog lamps, heated mirrors, 19-inch chrome alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, LED tail lamps, power sliding doors and hands-free smart power tailgate are the main features on the exteriors.

Engine & Transmission

The Carnival for India is likely to be offered with a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel, with power sent to the front wheels. The engine produces 202hp at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque between 1750-2750rpm. It is likely to come with a 6-speed manual transmission and automatic unit.

The Carnival is expected to come in a seven-seat format focussing more on second-row comfort which comes with individual captain seats and capable of folding down completely making for easier ingress and egress for third-row passengers. There will be nearly a 1000-litre worth of luggage-carrying capacity, even when all the three rows are up.

The India-spec Carnival will have a power sliding door aiding easier access to the third row and is expected to get extendable leg rests and chair arms, and a rear entertainment package that has dual 10.1-inch screens. Loaded with a variety of technologies such as Kia’s UVO Connect in-car connectivity suite, a large touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera with parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, two sunroofs, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and three-zone climate control, these enhancements are sure to add a dash of class and uniqueness making it one of the most desirable models in Kia’s rich product portfolio.

Safety kit

On the safety front, this MPV gets a plethora of vital tech. Safety kit is expected to include six airbags (dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags for all three rows), ABS with EBD and brake assist, ESC, traction control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It features front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-view camera, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, forward collision warning system and high beam headlight assist among others and is also expected to feature an advanced autonomous emergency braking system in the top-end version.

The new Kia Carnival MPV is expected to be brought into India via a CKD route and assembled at the company’s new production facility in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh and expected to have an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 25-30 lakh.

The Kia Carnival is absolute convenience with a style that turns head everywhere. A complete family tourer, it is sure to make driving a pleasure and gives you the power to explore life to the fullest in comfort and poise.
