With War, Tiger Shroff has set a new benchmark for action-drama genre in Bollywood. The film also starring Hrithik Roshan minted above Rs 400 crore at the box office in just a month. The Siddharth Anand directorial has established Tiger Shroff the unbridled action king and ace dancer of Bollywood. Despite having a tremendously experience superstar (Roshan) sharing the screen, Tiger Shroff justified his screen time in the film.
However, Tiger Shroff’s journey though started not very long time ago, is worth looking back at. Starting in 2014, he first appeared as the male lead opposite Kriti Sanon in Heropanti. The film was though not a critical hit, but it managed to get the cash registers ringing at the box office. The film buffs weren’t much happy with Tiger Shroff’s acting performance in the film but his dancing skills left a mark behind. In actions and stunts as well, the junior Shroff was way ahead the league of his contemporaries.
Chocolate Boy With Killer Dance Moves
Basking in the newfound success of Heropanti, Sabbir Khan roped in Tiger Shroff for his next film Baaghi as well. This marked the conception of this huge hit franchise Baaghi, which continues up to its third part. In Baaghi as well, Tiger Shroff reprised his role of a chocolate boy with killer dance moves and daunting action sequences. The role was not a breath of fresh air, but his fans were elated to have him once again on the screen, breaking bones.
A fun fact here; Tiger Shroff never used a body double for doing his stunt. One would wonder why would he even need a harness or a body double to perform death-defying stunts? One film after the other, Tiger Shroff established himself as the Indian version of Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise.
But the sky wasn’t always sunny for Tiger Shroff who was still two films old in this competitive industry. He signed Flying Jatt, a superhero film with Remo D’Souza that tanked at box office. It was his first time. Two years after his debut, Shroff met with his first box office failure. The film managed to rake in only Rs 56 crore at the BO.
Resurrected With Blockbuster Baaghi
2017 also didn’t bring any respite to Tiger Shroff and his films. Another project signed with Sabbir Khan titled Munna Michael turned out to be a failure. This time, the failure also came with a lot of negative attention from all the quarters.
After 2 flops and lukewarm performances, Tiger Shroff resurrected with the sequel of his first blockbuster Baaghi. He was paired opposite his real-life rumoured girlfriend Disha Patani. Surprisingly, Baaghi 2 went on to become an even greater hit than its predecessor. It minted around 253 crore at the box office, landing place in the ‘highest grossing films of the year’.
Teenage Dream Realised
Following a brief slowdown with Student of the Year, Tiger Shroff realised his teenage dream of working along with Hrithik Roshan. The powerful duo raged a storm at the box office and became the highest grosser of the year 2019, putting films like Bharat, Kabir Singh, Uri: The Surgical Strike, etc behind.
As far as the future projects are concerned, Tiger Shroff is all set to reprise his role in Baaghi 3. According to the sources, Shraddha Kapoor is returning back as his love interest in the film, replacing Disha Patani from the sequel.
